Sony has the mastery to actually bring the awaited "PSP2" into the world -- and that moment is now. The "sequel" to the PlayStation Portable was made official today during a press event in Japan, that thing looks like the PSP.

Codenamed "NGP" , "Next Generation Portable" Entertainment System, the device has been designed with five core buzz phrases in mind, according to Sony: Revolutionary User Interface; Social Connectivity; Location-based Entertainment; Converging Real and Virtual; and PlayStation Suite Compatibility.

The new hardware features dual analog sticks; a 5-inch OLED display (with 960x544 pixel -- 4x the PSP's); a front touchscreen and rear touchpad; 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS; and, for good measure, the same six-axis motion system that propels the Move, plus a three-axis compass, and we can't forget the front and rear cameras (those come standard these days). Of course, the NGP plays games, too, which will be offered on new flash memory-based cards that feature added storage for DLC and game saves.

Patch 1.04 is nearing the end of next to last Phase of testing process. Going into Phase 3 submissions on 6/12.

Here is available all the Changelog History:

Resolved several issues with parties getting disbanded unexpectedly.
Additional measures to prevent the “Transmission error” and other disconnects. This was most likely to occur with large parties where party members had mixed NAT types.
Updated handling for UPnP-enabled routers to improve matchmaking conditions where users had strict or moderate NAT types. Also added in-game communications so that all players are aware of their NAT type in the Player Match party lobby.
Addressed an issue with VOIP icons not appearing when USB headsets were plugged in prior to game launch.

Gran Turismo 5 for PS3 is here, and now GT5 is playable on PSJailBreak & PsGroove

Today Gran Turismo 5 is making a round on the Internet with the first release by group DComics.People are trying to get it working without updating the firmware. Because v3.50 Firmware is needed in order to play this game.

The release of DComics loads 19.5GB They say you can spoof your firmware if you want to play the game in the previous version v3.41. Textually: "To play the game you need to spoof your fw as 3.5 with one of the payloads available in net."

Also there is another realease by PEMA group. They say : "Spoofed firmware 3.5 required" and normal installation procedure.

Perhaps you need to patch the PARAM.SFO with the Open Manager utility, to avoid black screen at the beginning of the game.

Us version is BCUS-98114 and the Euro version is BCES-00569. It's been compiled with the PS3 SDK v 3.30.

Looks like this idea a little too fantastic even for a new concept. The authors offer a simple reminder about charging the phone - switch the "ordinary» AMOLED-display in monochrome mode screen technology with E-Ink. This is a monochrome mode is used for power saving mode of the phone.

We can only guess when it's the interesting times in which the electronic filling system, including the battery, can be done either transparent or so small that they can hide the navigation button to the device.

But it looks like the device in the picture is certainly so beautiful.

Currently work is being done towards a free public PS3 downgrader alternative to the pay version, and based on a preliminary examination of the leaked PS Downgrader 3.41 PUP and Lv2diag.self files they appear to include a modified PUP along with the official Sony PlayStation 3 JIG Files that were also leaked nearly two years ago.

Usually JIG files use a special PUP to downgrade as inside its CORE_OS package is flagged for downgrading, however, this is not the case. It seems that the PUP has been modified to allow downgrading, perhaps via another yet undisclosed exploit... Time will tell for sure! :)

Cracking 14 Character Complex Passwords in 5 Seconds

There has been a lot of talk recently in the security community about high speed GPU (video card) processors being able to crack passwords very quickly.

But there is a technology that can crack them even faster. A Swiss security company called Objectif Sécurité has created a cracking technology that uses rainbow tables on SSD drives.

Apparently it is the hard drive access time and not the processor speed that slows down cracking speed. So using SSD drives can make cracking faster, but just how fast?

One article in March of this year stated that the technique using SSD drives could crack passwords at a rate of 300 billion passwords a second, and could decode complex password in under 5.3 seconds.

So, how long would a long complex password hold up to the SSD based cracking technology?
Sounds like we need to put this to the test. Most hackers will crack passwords by decoding the password hash dumps from a compromised computer.

So, I pulled several 14 character complex passwords hashes from a compromised Windows XP SP3 test machine, to see how they would stand up to Objectif’s free online XP hash cracker.
The results were stunning.

Let’s start out with an easy one. Here is the Administrator password hash from the machine:

And putting this into Objectif’s tool we get this response:

Time: Okay, this one really pushed it to the limits, it took a whole 11 seconds to crack!

Very impressive, it took only five to eleven seconds in this test to crack 14 character complex passwords. I was able to create a password that Objectif’s site couldn’t decode; it was using characters from the extended ASII set.
But, unfortunately, I could not log into the XP system using it either.

Want to see how a password would do without having to exploit a system and dump the password hashes?
Objectif allows you to put a password in and it will convert it for you. Then you can place the hash into the cracker and see how it does.

I believe that this demonstration shows that relying on passwords alone may no longer be a good security measure.
Many companies and government facilities are moving away from using just passwords to dual authentication methods. Biometrics and smartcards are really becoming popular in secure facilities.

And if the rumors are true, it looks like Microsoft may include facial recognition authentication in the next version of Windows. Time to dust off the old Web Cam…

How to Get: Call of Duty - Black Ops Working with PsJailGroove, PSJailBreak and BackUp Manager 1.1

Here is a guide wrote on PSX-Scene.com, how to get Call of Duty: Black Ops working with PS3 JailBreak on PlayStation 3 Firmware 3.41 in external and internal HardDisk .

Today a copy of Black Ops arrived "in the usual places" and it required 3.50 to play.

JonahUK pointed out that when the EBOOT.BIN was viewed with a hex editor it showed it was compiled with the 3.40 SDK meaning it was debug update time!!!

I extracted the EBOOT.BIN file and PRAM.SFO from the 1.02 debug update modified them and made a pack here: CODBO.rar, Download Mirror

Here is a tutorial to get the game working:

Step 1: Download BackUP Manager 1.1

Step 2: Download the files and go to where you put your game and edit your pram.sfo to say 3.40 with PS3SFOEdit.

Now if you have the BLES01032 version just use the SFO.PRAM file inc in my pack and place it in that directory overwriting the old one.

If you have another version of the game use PS3SFOEdit to edit your sfo to say 3.40 in advanced edit. SAVE IT then replace it.

Step 5: Double check everything, Then play.

The next part comes from hunter128 from here and seems to only apply if you have run the game previously and been prompted to update.

After you install the pkg launch a FTP server and go to /dev_hdd0/mms/db/ and search a file called metadata_db_hdd open it in a hex editor and search 3.50, and change to 3.41

Big thanks to teh reaper for testing this and confirming it working on external and internal HDD.

Also it seems that multiplayer freezes at the moment, but campaign and zombies works fine!

This is the way that works atm I'm sure there will probably be a simpler way soon.

Sometimes when you try to boot some Live BackTrack linux distributions in a Asus EeePC 701 or 901 you don't get a full view in your laptop screen, the upper and bellow sides are cut. And this it's really annoying.

I bring you a solution that its very well known throught linux or Eeepc forum communities. So I resume to the easier.

Download the bellow video module and copy it to
/ROOT/BT3/modules/ of your PenDrive or SD/Card.

If you use Firefox, it is so simply to bypass the Offer form. You need to install No-Script addon to prevent javascript code to be executed. Then a direct link will appeard and you don't need to wait for timers countdown or to fill the offer.

Restart Firefox to get NoScript plugin runinng. Then, you need to Forbid Sharecash.org in the status bar of NoScript Icon, as you can see here in the capture, (click to enlarge view).

Create a Bootable USB Ghost Pendrive, for Backup images

I made most of the job for you so you only need to download the image and restore over the Pendrive. The other possibility is to make it by yourself starting with boot cdroms or in fact primitive boot diskettes, that's how I made it.

Download USB Ghost Image (32MB) and read the following steps.

In order to restore this image in the pendrive I invite you to read previous article to do it, just less than 5 min. So take a look here: Make Very Fast copies with WinHex

Then you need to select GhostDisk Image as source and your PenDrive physical disk as destination. It's important to select physical not logical because it'll restore boot sectors. If you select logical it wouldn't boot.

Secure extract and now it's ready.

Well a final step is optional, as you can see in the disk administrator there is only 31Mb of disk usage in your USB Pen Drive so you would like to extend it in order to use the rest of the space. I think that the easy way is to create another partition and left the 1st without changes. So create a new one in the unpartitioned space and format it with Disk Administrator from the same window. Then it will assign you another drive letter.

So at the end you will see something like this. Use Backup manager

Add a contextual menu for all files in Windows Explorer

You could create a contextual menu (right click in a file in Windows Explorer) to open your selected file with your fave application.

It's really fast so, move on.

Run regedit.exe

Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT

Enter in "*".

Go to shell (create a new key if doesn't exist)

Create a new key and rename it to "Open with YOUR APPL"(Could exist another similar key so create it at the same folder deep)

Create another key within the previous one, (like a subfolder tree ) rename it to "command"

Enter created command key and change "predefined field" to "C:\Program Files\YOUR APPLCATION FOLDER\APPLICATION.exe" "%1" or your route to your application folder, it's importat to keep "%1" at the final with quotes.

Check it in Windows Explorer, right click in a random file and test that your string appear here.

Restoring files within a backup image file with WinHex

If you need to recover a missing file that you remember that's its in the backup image you could recover fast with this tool. Also its valid for an VMWare image file vmdk or binary file created with another tool. You could recover files or use an existing Winhex image to use it with VMWare as disk (I will explain better in a future). I'm going to show you how.

Open image file with winhex. Most times when you open an image with winhex you would see thats it's displaying as Hexadecimal view. To explore within image you need to Interpret as disk, so you need to go to Specialist menu, then "Interpret image file as disk". Now you must see the partition table, then enter in the partition that you need to open (if you don't remember try one and go back if you are wrong). Then a file structure will appear, look for your file and select it with right button and choose Recover/copy option.

It's so simply, nothing more to do.

Make very fast 1:1 copies for HDD, partitions, Pen-Drives or Memory Cards with WinHex

I start saying that I been using this method for a long time and really its fast. A lot of Image backup applications like Ghost or True Image use local file access and MBR recovery. That's a long time consuming task specially with a lot of small files, sure you are aware of file access time. But there is a not file acess time dependency posibility, that's makes that your copies takes the same time to commit.

Instead following this way you make a secuential copy, that's the faster possible. Sector after sector are copy from the star to the end without pause. Also you could make an image backup from every type of device you select as origin, using the same technique.

The most awesome feature is that you could make a backup of an active and in use partition or harddisk without rebooting your system. WinHex doesn't need an install, is a direct 32bit executable application, so forget installation and required reboots between. But I recommend to make backups only of idle devices/partitions, because you could corrupt some files when you are backing-up your in use system partition. If you try this case, do it only with all others applications closed, thus I've been success every time I maked. But I recommend you to use it with care.

I'm trying to show you an example with a Pendrive, the same for others units: I'm going to make a Image backup of the USB Memory. So these are the steps:

1. Connect your pendrive or other storage unit and start WinHex, then go to Tools -> Disks Tools -> Clone Disks

2. Select your origin as disk if you want to backup it, and then your destination could be another disk/partition or an image file, as you need. Choose image as source if you need to restore a
backup.

3. Select sector "0" (red circle) as the beggining of the destination.

Its important to notice that you MUST select "physical unit" if you are copying and entire device, thus includes table of contents and boot sectors. And select logical only if you are backing-up partitions.

Well that it's all that you need to know. In the next entry I will tell you how to recover files within the image without restoring using the same tool.
